Yesterday it was pedicures and sushi
I felt like I was kidnapped by a sex and the city movie
It was an all u can eat sushi place
but there's only so much sushi you can stuff in your face
We were in San Matteo and walking around
We were in the really cool downtown
There's an eyeglass store with a yogurt shop inside
Lots of mom and pop owned businesses that look like they're getting by
But all you can eat sushi...really?  Maybe not the best of indulgences!
So before you patronize another box store
Make sure the mom and pop's you don't ignore!

The other day I talked to my cousin
on facebook with that chat feature button
the thing about my cousin that's a slight edge
is he speaks a different language
My cousin lives in Hamburg and he said he just saw
Scott Pilgrim in German so that made me drop my jaw
And he said he's a big fan of How I Met Your Mother
in German Barney still talks about how he's had a million lovers
we only watch it on DVD so we completely missed the last season
so I must admit I'm feeling fine
about this certain angle on modern times

For me harnesses are better on your dogs and dollars
Until today when Basil got out of his harness
And a German Shepherd he went to harass
I grabbed him and pulled him away in no time
but the other owner seemed to not be so fine
She walked away saying "oh my god, oh my god."
I have a boxer not a pitbull, lady. don't go throw a rod!
So now I have tightened the harness so he won't Harry Houdini me
Basil was admonished and I gave him a talk
I have to keep an eye on my two dogs like a hawk

And I got wrapped up running a bunch of err-ands
so I missed the Pride Parade and their marching bands
next year I'll leave extra early and find a rainbow t-shirt for me---oh
the only rainbow t-shirt I have is from the band with Ronnie James Dio
Actually, no, I only have a Boston t-shirt and my wife confiscated that...
Oh, it looks like my computer's moving a little faster
I don't have to grab my hammer and destroy the little bastard

So we set up and did our garage selling
and it was better than I was expecting
My wife sold a bunch of clothes
One dollar for this and that till it all goes
I had a bunch of junk that wasn't worth a dime
so I gave that away for free and that worked out fine
Then we closed up right at noon
so this podcast is a little late in getting to you
I couldn't give my ties away, that's sad
If the end comes if we don't raise the debt ceiling
people will still go to garage sales, I get the feeling.

I've got nothing 'gainst b-words that word's a double standard tot
I don't mean to get off on a completely different plate
But I'm having a garage sale this Saturday bright and early at 8
Oh, and I'll be selling my rare collection of ritz crackers boxes
So many good recipes on those things
So many strange words I had to sing!

I saw the Beatle's "Hard Days Night"
Lots of funny dialogue
And the songs were not sung by a frog
They were sang by those lads from Liverpool
and I would never want to swim in a liver pool
that would be disgusting swimming with livers
I would rather swim in a million stinky rivers
As for the movie, very cool. Legendary. Great music.
If only all concert film were that cool
the rest can be dumped in a liver pool

It was the Hayward Street Fair yesterday and they're doing it one Thursday a month all summer.  I'll tell you how that went.

So I talked to my mom and she said lad,
the fires in Florida are really bad
they've had a drought and with all that vegetation
stuff can burn fast without precipitation
so there's tornadoes and droughts and awful floods
still people want to deny and say global warming is a dud
systems change and that's all it is and nothing more
how dare they give a noble peace prize to Al Gore
yes, there couldn't possibly be any validity to the green house effect
Now's the time to hold the media with a climate change fist
Cuz in the winter they'll say look it's cold it don't exist!

So there's a type of animal that lurks in Castro Valley that I have to tell you about.

Well we've finally got a heat wave
at the cities by the bay
we slept with the windows open last night

Today's going to be another hotter than usual day
Yet there really isn't any reason to complain
when you drive by a gas station it's not the same hell
because you see the price is going to a normal level
Actually, a normal level should be like a dollar, right?

I finally saw a certain movie
that came out in 2003
It's called Lost in Translation
a Sofia Coppola creation
There were probably 80 words in the entire film
It got Scarlett Johansson's career beyond the brim
there were lots of cool shots of Japan
and Bill Murray acting like an adulterous man
And the scene where he sings Elvis Costello's "What's So Bad about Peace Love and Understanding"
We watched that on DVD
and we borrowed it from our friend Christy

Later today I am going to be interviewing a band from Canada called CURRENT SWELL.  I'll tell you more about that...

I must be nuts for doing a podcast day in and day out
But there is so much to podcast for
Like the size of dust bunnies on hard wood floors
Then there's the face that I still haven't alphabetized
all the CD's I have that are mostly unfamous guys
I've organized them up to the letter M
I don't even have the group M, have you ever heard of them
They talk about...Pop Music.
So maybe I should give up this side hobby
so I can get organized and be a good hubby

I was having a conversation about facebook with the people we were bbq-ing with yesterday.  I think I've figured out something that most people haven't thought about.  We'll discuss in this show.

Chely Shoehart is going back to something she's really good at.  We'll find out what...

Floyd the Floorman and John Deer the Engineer are considering buying a boat.  Because why? We'll find out why...

So we got up early today
to go garage sailing that's why I'm late...with...MDP!
I bought 2 dollars worth of stuff
including a cd I really luff
It is Kenny Loggins greatest hits cd
Yeah most of them were from really awful 80's movies
then I got a big over sized pooper scooper shovel
cuz with two dogs you gots to keeps your yard clean and treat it with love..ellll
yes, and I got one more interesting trinket I shall tell you about...
an interesting photo red head book there
for my friend Jason who has that kind of hair

So Wiener, the House of Representatives Democratic Speaker, is leaving amidst scandal.  Or is it because he can't keep his Twitter in his pants?  More on that in the show...

Benita the Rodeoqueen and the Disgruntled Fiddle Player are pleased as punch as another Democrat goes down...maybe not the best terminology.  We'll talk to them.

The Brewmaster is being bought out by BJ's...keep focused.  We'll find out why.

So in that picture yesterday I posted
I am wearing glasses on my nosted
I had my eyes lazered into submission
Corrected all my corneal imperfections
Then for a whole year I couldn't go into a pool
Well I could but I had to keep my eyes closed good
And I used a lot of eye drops on them
But I was really happy I got it done in the end
It was nice to finally throw my glasses away
Actually I kept those glasses and they went
They sit in my house as a monument

So what's the deal with the t-shirt I wore in the picture from yesterday?  There's some stories about it I'll tell you in today's show...

Chely Shoehart has a movie she's dying to see and an actor she's crushing on.  We'll find out who.

Floyd and John Deere tell us about their role models when they were teenagers.

Oh!  And today is the PREMIERE of the MIKELOPEDIA INSANICA!!!

The picture for today is from when I went to a car museum down in L.A. a couple years ago.  Recognize that one?  I know it's difficult without Lindsay Lohan standing next to it!

And finally, in addendum to my rant, I also couldn't stand the guy who kept saying "off the hook" all the time.  Please, if you are still using that expression, kill yourself now!

So it's graduation time
for lots of kids who have lost their minds
sitting in a class a month into summer
can really be a bummer
then you have to say goodbye to your high school
and hurry get the phone number of that girl you thought was cool
wait a minute she's moving to a college far away
that's all right because you didn't have a chance anyway
Wait a minute, I was going to write a country song in honor of the CMT awards last night
USA, flag, being a redneck's really neat
Though it's not very authentic cuz all the country stars have their teeth

So graduation can be a wonderful time for many reasons.  I can think of one big one that I've recently discovered by going back to school...I'll tell you about...

Valentino the Parking Attendant and Bison Bentley have a parking lot situation caused by all the graduations.

Madame Rootabega predicts the future of the current grads.

So we played a board game that's lots of fun
with my wife and our roommate and her mum
It's called Banana's and it takes lots of concentration
To rearrange words in different configurations
You are given 21 words and like in Scrabble
You arrange words up and down and then you dabble
in using every lettered tile before they're all gone
it took me 50 games before I finally won
My wife is like a complete champion at it.  Beating her was like winning against that Jeopardy guy
So try this game it's a fact you'll see
that it doesn't require batteries

I've been having router fun.  I tell you all about it!

Benita and DFP are up in arms about something.  We'll find out what.

The Brewmaster has a new rootbeer just in time for the season.  Grads?  Dads?  No.

So I walked my dogs in the rain on Saturday
Got my butt handed to me by a cold yesterday
Slept most of the day and feel a little better
Guess I should do my dogwalking in nicer weather
My wife and I are going to Mill Valley
Where we'll visit our friends Mel and Sally
Actually we don't know anybody named that
It rhymed with line 5 so you know where I'm at
to all listening right now named Mel and Sally, greetings and salutations!
So as this week starts to proceed
I'll be close to my new box of klee....nex.

So when we were in DC last weekend
we heard we had just missed Sarah Palin
To say the least we were disappointed
Not to see the tea party's potentially anointed
She was doing her big publicity tour
but everything she does is publicity for her
Then Thursday she flubs Paul Revere history
if she can say nuclear right is a mystery
my show is slightly political at the moment but I'll get out of it watch
Today is Saturday so get out your bbq's
unless your in the Bay Area then get out your good rain boots

Something I discovered by watching Modern Family on Hulu last night and by having a conversation yesterday with a director friend of mine has made me reach an interesting conclusion...I'll tell you what it is...

Valentino and Bison Bentley tell us about why they are not going to see the new Xmen movie.

Madame Rootabega predicts what the biggest movie of the summer will be.

And we bring you another installment of NEWS RANDOM.

I finally watched "Run Lola Run" last night.  What's that and what does it mean in respect to today's world?  I'll tell you in the podcast...

Benita the Rodeoqueen and the Disgruntled Fiddle Player are happy that John Edwards got indicted.  We'll find out why.

The Brewmaster is running from the law again.  We'll find out why why.

And it's our first in a long time edition of MIKE'S SCAVENGER HUNT!  What destination does Mike want you to try to find?

I interviewed for a job yesterday
at a coffee house slash lunch time type place
I'd be surrounded by coffee and regulars
and the occasional unknown stars
My wife and our student roommate
Want to see Train and Maroon 5 playing a concert date
At the Shoreline Amphitheater which should be a great show
Till we try to leave and wait till early winter to get home
today I walk our 2 boxers for the first time...I'll let you know tomorrow if I still have arms
So this is the line that I start with the word "so"
Not a needle pulling thread or any of that crow

So we have taken over operations of my brother-in-law's dog, Layla, since he is moving into a no-dogs-allowed type situation...I'll tell you about the glory of two boxers.

We bring you our INTO AN INTERVIEW segment where we talk to Canadian singer/songwriter and pianist Ben Wilkins and hear one of his songs.

Chely Shoehart tells us what she's doing with her business.

And Floyd the Floorman brings in an old character from the old Santa Fe Cafe radio show that we haven't heard from in over 5 years!

So I'm back from Washington DC
I'm so glad to be out of the humidity!
Some people complain about the weather in California
but at least there's no humidity to make you go bluh!
I know "bluh" is not a real word
But this is my first song in like a week so I'm blurred
In my mind as how to rhyme
I want a lime on my wife's valentine
That sounds kinky...This part I wrote down before I sang
So thanks for keeping with this show
Even through the phone calls that blow

Public transit is a trip.  Let me tell you why.  Let me tell you about my DC trip.  It was a trip.  I'll tell you why.
