Sorry no podcast yesterday
I got wrapped up in so much work and play
I visited San Francisco and saw a lot
staying near the piers and boats that bob
you'll hear in my segment MIKE ON MOBILE all that I did
it's cellphone quality and my phone is a piece of shi---biddydoo
then last night my friends Terri and Steve
took me out to a German birthday dinner more delicious than you can believe!
I had Schnitzel and a beer that was so delicious and so much.  Almost a bucket's worth!
So this is Wednesday's exciting podcast

Last night I watched Back to the Future Three
on blue ray so it was so much clearer to see
they shot the old west town parts up here in the Sonora area
we know someone lived there then and said it was the place to be uh
what's funny is my mom new someone in the late eighties
who lived over there in Port Hueneme
and saw them shoot the final scene with the time machine train
and he saw the day they destroyed the Delorean that must have been insane!
Living in California you tend to see movies being made.  And then you see movies 20 years later and go...oh, I know where that is!
Mary Steenburgen moved to the Ventura County and Ojai
she may have been introduced during that Back to the Future time.

So it's Sunday and we have a task
that's a new holiday tradition alas
we have a wooden stick reindeer
that we have to go get out of here
so with some consultation from my wife's family
we have made this a fun holiday anomaly
we decorate the reindeer then pass it along
to some one who passes it on and so on and so on
each person adds another decoration to it before passing it on.
It's like Christmas hot potato
hey, that's a great name for a Christmas movie on HBO...or ABC Family...whatever.

So Black Friday is over now
and we wonder why we got up so early and how
so many people got up early and stood outside
hoping for some magical savings on crap inside
I don't believe in that sort of mass hysteria
it's like cool aid pouring down and being lapped up like sangria
let's all wake up for a far better cause
like all of coming together to save Santa Clause
because he needs to be saved!  There's like a hundred movies on tv this time of year that say so.

So yesterday was turkey day
or to some football non-stop day
kind of ironic ain't it that there's guy sweating on fields
while fat guys watch them having just eaten big meals
my wife made her first turkey and it was delicious
she made home made stuffing that was outrageous
and then to top it all off a pecan pumpkin cheese cake
that is something I hope she again will make
meanwhile I am the worst host in the world because I don't have a tv
on Thanksgiving males watch what football brings
while the women enjoy talking about real things...like Black Friday...is that today?

So yesterday I had a birthday
so much fun and I had some cake
it was carrot cake which is close to my heart
in fact the whole day was full of carbs
we ate at a place called Home Room in North Oakland
they serve mac and cheese in various styles and brands
I had the Mexican one that had in it chorizo
what a lunch but then there were more carbs to go!
Later, we ate calzones at my in-law's house and they were amazing! 
So I think as well as turning 43 yesterday
I gained 43 pounds to I'll eat better today!

It's the day before my birthday full of happiness and sorrow
just want you to know there will be no podcast for tomorrow
November 22nd will be a day of reflection and peace
saying goodbye to 42 and welcoming 43
and as you know if you have any facebook friends
you get "happy birthday" greetings that never end
they all say "Happy Birthday and have a good one!"
or they mention an inside joke that's sometimes fun
or, sometimes, you get no happy birthday's at all.  With my under 300 friends I guess that's entirely possible.
So as I go further into the middle age
I'm enjoying less having to turn the page.

So today I watched my first Raiders game
in quite awhile and it was not at all lame
they beat the Vikings and it was fun to watch
and the whole game I hardly looked at my watch
you see I must admit I'm not the biggest sports fan
I'll watch at my father-in-law's because he's a Raiders man
I ask him lots of questions because I'm completely naive
but now I have a bunch of knowledge up my sleeve
for example, did you know the Raiders have a...uh...hell, I don't remember
like I said I could give a crap about sports
but I respect the guys who play, they're the dedicated sort.

there was one on Ed Wood...who knew?
Ed Wood was at the helm
of Plan 9 From Outer Space an awful film
he directed some of the worst movies ever made
including Glen or Glenda and a virtual parade
of horror films that watching now are such a ride
he had Bela Lugosi in most of them before he died
Tim Burton made a movie called Ed Wood with Johnny Depp that talked about all the crazy stuff he did
Martin Landau got an Academy Award
for playing Bela which looked pretty hard.

went with some friends on a drive
to a cool spot in Oakland sight seeing
where people are no longer living
it's the Mountain View cemetery and don't be scared
it has some very famous people who are interred there
including the guy from Ghirardelli Chocolate
and the founder of the University of California
plus the founder of Crocker Bank...does anyone remember that bank?  None of the protesters do either.
the view of the entire bay area was great
that place you just don't want to stay there too late!

Yesterday I experienced IKEA
so much there to see-uh
going on a weekday is the best time

the selection was limited but Swedish meatballs over there!
I don't know why whenever I leave there I feel like I left not finding what I was looking for.
So cheap furniture has only one spot
unfortunately the perfect place it is not.

I think his talent has hit an iceberg
he seems to be the one who's always the guy
to put together the Digital Short on Saturday Night Live
his stuff has been so funny, original, and so wit quick
but lately he's doing the same white nerdy hip hop shtick
I think he's mined that subject matter for all it's worth
but who am I to say since I do a song every day here on earth
some may say that I have hit a wall.  Yes, the wall is entitled Mike's lacking musical skill.
So let's see Andy do more funny off the wall characters
he's already more talented than that guy with the last name Sandler.

and buy some junk over priced despite haggling
the possibilities are limitless and equally uninteresting.  Maybe I should do Christmas shopping.
So figuring out what to do on Sunday's hard
maybe I'll home make a bunch of Christmas cards

Last night I was in a store
I've noticed of turkeys there's a lot more
Thanksgivings coming up
so they're stalking up on that stuff
do you buy the biggest turkey and stuff it in your freezer
we would have to throw out everything like a geezer
to make room for an enormous ice bird
shaped like a watermelon if that's the correct word
we're going to do Thanksgiving at our house so sooner or later we need to get one of those
then comes stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce,
pumpkin pie, gravy, and a lot of dirty pots!

Last night my wife made Jambalaya
it was good, my mouth on fiya
then we watched George Strait's "Pure Country"
a little get back to the earth movie from the nineties
it laughed at how country stars get too full of theatrics
with fireworks and video screens and other tricks
when it should just be about someone and their guitar
not so much a keyboard since the electric chord doesn't go that far
you know, all the way out to the shack in the mountains surrounded by sheep and that one evil goat
so let's hear it for the music and culture of the South
I sometimes miss it when it's been a while I've been without

So here we are at Monday
and we wonder what will come day
I have a bunch of things to do
one of them is keep my head from getting too cool
this time of year the temp is too cold for my head
since I'm bald and don't wear toupee's instead
so I went shopping for hats yesterday and found three I like
hats are a little pricey don't understand the price hike
you can't find them during the summer, and now they're too expensive
dang my hair follicles for only producing air
but I guess I don't have to worry about "hat hair"

she made a feast for her brother's b day
like Martha Stewart she made 3 courses
it was like a parade of food without the horses
she even made little menus that said what we'd eat
and she made a wedge salad that was pretty neat
then out came the prime rib with home made creamed spinach
if you ever watched Popeye it's impossible to rhyme with spinach
I'm strong to the finish, cuz I eats my spinach...something like that?
so I must say my wife is quite the cook
and not a single lesson she ever took

Sorry no podcast yesterday
it was my brother-in-law's birthday
my wife and I were busy getting it together fast
so I had no time to get on the mic and podcast
the night before of course was All Hallows Eve
and we just happened not to have any candy
so we turned off the porch lights and watched TV
but still 2 groups of kids came to the door and demanded candy
we didn't answer the door yet they kept ringing the door bell and banging on the door like we were harboring a fugitive!
so this year we ditched the greedy kids
can't wait till I'm a parent and do what they did!
