I am finally watching Mad Men on Netflix and I am loving season one.  I'm probably way behind the rest of you.  Some parts are absolute TV gold and other parts are slow slow slow.  It's really amazing WHY it's intriguing: because they show all the crazy 1950's oddities and the deepest insecurities of the men and women that worked at that ad agency in New York.  So well done and so good at revealing the deepest show secrets in a slow but fun way.

At the Danville Fall Festival.

Danville does Fall very well. The leaves turn, the air gets crisp, people look happy in their rediscovered sweaters. I arrived late in the day and most of the booth people looked pretty done with it. The picture is of a Danville restaurant's clock tower with the Autumn California sun.

Does anyone know whatever happened to Laura San Giacomo?  She was that brunette, Italian woman from the sitcom Just Shoot Me.  She also had a supporting role in the movies Pretty Woman and Sex, Lies, and Video Tape.  She needs to make a big comeback like the lady from The Good Wife.  After that observation I must now go and change the oil in my car, the first time here at my house.  I've done it with the help of my father-in-law before, but now I must set out and do it on my own.  Wish me luck.

Looking around at all the major media outlets, nobody is saying Obama won the debate last night.  It all just points out how aggressive, assertive, and gregarious the two candidates were.  But there were several quick witted returns that Obama made that seem to show he won this debate.  Mitt may have had the first one, but Barrack has adjusted to Mitt's feisty, debate-rules-breaking style.  I love that Obama wasn't trying to be all nice last night.  So much of debates is trying to be strong, but still appear to be friendly and nice to the voters.  It looked like a frustrating line Obama had to walk last night.  Mitt just comes off as a real whiner.  Yet he's Mormon and can't drink wine.  Odd.

Sorry no show for the past 2 days.  I had a busy day at Haight Ashbury walking over the assortment of street people living on the sidewalk.  Lots to see in that part of San Francisco.  Lower Haight is very nice and it was fun watching the street erupt into cheering fans when the Giants won their game on Thursday.  Yesterday was a errands day from hell.  Don't you hate spending all that time running errands and then you've still got a bunch of stuff on your list?

So this is really the darkest hour for Obama right now, isn't it?  Who would have thought that President Barack Obama would end up being the victim of the "Nixon Debate Effect?"  Nixon had trouble with gout which ended up making him look terrible on the first ever televised presidential debate with Kennedy, Obama had a hard time adjusting to Denver's high altitude.  Obama and Nixon having a similar problem.  I would have never predicted that.

I am making my amazing crockpot turkey chili today!  It's stinking up the house with all kinds of spicy, heart-warming (and burning) smells!  How do you make it?  Ground turkey, a couple cans of kidney and black beans, and chopped pealed tomatoes (oh, and some tomato sauce).  Then cook on high for 6 hours.  Always better the next day!  How does that happen, that "next-day" phenomenon?  Maybe it's because your taste buds are deadened by the extreme spiciness and you yearn for more since that's the only thing you can taste now.  Just a theory.

Fundraising for presidential campaigns.  Why blow your money on that crap?  I guess a lot of people do.  Figures came out today that Obama has raised close to a billion and Romney's raising a bunch more now that he crushed Obama in the last debate (or that's what the media says over and over again).  Couldn't all that money be used for something else?  Like actually helping the people all those ad dollars are catering to?  How many times do I need to bring this up till someone finally does something about it?
